Geometry
Geometry had also meant two dimensional and three dimensional shapes. I could not think off the top of my head much else to include for this topic. RGeometry in primary classrooms includes the understanding of properties and attributes of objects and their relationships against other geometric shapes. Euclid’s 13 volume textbook on Geometry was the second most printed book in the western world when the printing press was first invented.). Geometry is ‘Earth Measurement’. Geometry includes how shapes and the space around them related to each other.
_t is best to begin young children with 3.D. shapes as it is what they see in the world around them. The Australian Curriculum describes children sorting, naming and describing familiar 3.D. shapes in the students’ environment. Students will build on this knowledge and learn to recognise, visualise and classify the objects using obvious features. Young children benefit from describing and sorting objects in relation to how they are alike and different geometrically (ACMMG022, ACARA, 2015).
